Tata Power has officially approached the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) to secure a parallel power distribution licence across 15 districts in Karnataka.

According to the official petitions submitted to the KERC Active Petitions Portal, Tata Power is focusing heavily on urban centers, municipalities, and city corporations across four major state utilities:
- BESCOM Areas: Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Chitradurga.
- CESCOM Areas: Mysuru, Hassan, and Chamarajanagar.
- MESCOM Areas: Shivamogga, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi.

PRASAD scheme
Context
The PRASAD scheme works atop Mysuru’s Chamundi Hill have been halted following an interim directive from the Karnataka High Court.
- The order was issued in response to a petition filed by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, a member of the erstwhile royal family, challenging the construction of concrete structures in an ecologically sensitive zone.
Reasons for the Standstill
- The High Court reprimanded the state administration for continuing construction despite prior orders to restrict permanent work, directing the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru to immediately halt all activities.
- Construction area is a reserve forest and heritage site requiring mandatory clearances from the Heritage Committee, which were allegedly bypassed.
About PRASAD Scheme
- Full Form: Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive.
- Nodal Ministry: Fully implemented and monitored by the Ministry of Tourism.
- Launch Year: 2014-15.
- In 2017, the scheme was renamed to the National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD).
- This shift occurred after components of the discontinued HRIDAY scheme (Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana) by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs were merged into it to include general heritage sites.
